Deep and steep (some call the upper mezzanine "nosebleed"), the design can nonetheless send a soloist's unamplified announcement of an encore to the back of the house. The placement of entrances along the sides of the house only (and the lack of a center aisle) means a hike for half of the seats for the orchestra level up at least one flight of stairs, around the back of the house and down another flight. Restrooms, too, are down, down, downstairs. A couple of elevators help, but heavy use and tiny dimensions render them fairly useless for ticketholders in a hurry. |
