Deep and steep (some call the upper mezzanine "nosebleed"), the design can nonetheless send a soloist's unamplified announcement of an encore to the back of the house. The placement of entrances along the sides of the house only (and the lack of a center aisle) means a hike for half of the seats for the orchestra level — up at least one flight of stairs, around the back of the house and down another flight. Restrooms, too, are down, down, downstairs. A couple of elevators help, but heavy use and tiny dimensions render them fairly useless for ticketholders in a hurry. |
