In case you haven't heard already, RENT, one of Broadway's top musicals (and a Tony and Pulitzer Prize winner), is in town RIGHT NOW, and it's an absolute MUST SEE. I don't usually use all-caps, but hey, you can't hear the tone of my voice, which is a Southeastern Ohio drawl, saying, "Don't miss this opportunity!" RENT tells the story of group of young artists struggling to get by in New York City. Despite its tough and sad portrayals of AIDS, homelessness, poverty, and corruption , RENT's writer, Jonathan Larson, infused the play with powerful life-affirming messages. As the group of friends changes and grows, we see a group of young people not only being defeated, but also growing up rising to the challenges of life. But the story's not the half of it. The music is fantastic! Hard-edged rock, soft, pretty ballads and powerful vocal performances bring the story home on a whole new level. Most people I know who have seen the play buy the soundtrack. Hot Topic: If you've seen the show, let us know what you think! I felt bad for that sheep! Having to go thru THAT twice a day! Whew!! (WHAT???) If you get the chance to go it is a once in a lifetime experience!! Rent is the greatest theatrical production of all time! It's the BEST show
I've ever seen. You should definitely go see it! |
