Unlike audience, Brown
missed point of 'Rent'

In response to "Rent is endearing, but its music is bland'' (July 29):

I, too, saw the Tuesday performance of "Rent,'' but unlike Tony Brown I was blown away by the amazing talent, emotional score and thought-provoking lyrics. Brown's hollow rantings and irrelevant ravings make it evident he has missed the point. The true response to "Rent'' was reflected in the audience's resounding standing ovation as the final note was sung.

Should we really take Mr. Brown's word over the Pulitzer or multiple Tonys that have been awarded "Rent''? Am I the only one surprised that he feels he can insult a stellar cast and a world-renowned musical?
