5/31/98 [southern california folks] both the o.c. register and the l.a. times/o.c. edition are supposed to have major publicity blitz's starting today.  go get 'em :-)

the new swings who have replaced yaz and adam are yasmeen (sp?) and peter smith.

very cool about laura's record, no?   congratulations laura :-)

i pulled craig's pictures from his page & put them up in the pittsburgh section (thanks craig & sherrie :-)  craig may be with us in costa mesa btw :-)

site maintenance day.

5/30/98 southern california, did you hear it?  the costa mesa commercials are on the radio :-)

chrissie sent me her adrian pics from hartford.  wow, remind you of anyone? thanks crissie :-)

and here's scott & chrissie in hartford - scott went on as mark last nite in pittsburgh.

saving the best for last.   these are tina's wavs from the benefit in cincinnati.  i've been listening to this whole tape for what tina, about 2 months now? and i still can't get enough of it.   these are big, about ~285KB each, but worth the wait. here's cary singing parts of "with a little help from my friends" (backup singers - "the cast of RENT"  :-)

5/29/98 carla's first show was last nite  :-)

jenn sent me another pic from tampa - (this one's for you katie) - kirk.

she also confirmed the new orleans tour dates *and* sent me this tampa article - good job jenn!  :-)

here's the first pittsburgh review.  and the second.

did you see it?  the first costa mesa ad was in the l.a. times today :-)

this is from siteforrent:

June 1, 1998 The Orange County Performing Arts Center and 95.9 KEZY will celebrate the arrival of RENT to Orange County August 5-16, 1998 with an official Box Office opening at the Center.  Ticket buyers will be eligible to register for an "audition" to qualify for a free pair of tickets to the musical.  Auditioners will be asked to sing a portion of Rent's anthem "Seasons of Love."  The first 40 people to register will receive a free Rent poster and be eligible to win tickets.  Two pairs of tickets will be awarded.  Auditions will be judged by a celebrity panel: 95.9 KEZY's Liz Pennington, Center President Jerry E. Mandel and Paul Hodgins, theatre critic for the Orange County Register.  95.9 will be handing out promotional items from the show and from 95.9 KEZY.  For further information, Rent fans are encouraged to listen to 95.5 KEZY or call the Orange County Register information line at (714)550-INFO and select category 9599.

WHEN? Box Office Opens at 10am Audition Registration begins at 10:30am Auditions will be held from 11am-12noon.

so what i want to know is, how many of you are going to be there to sing for your tickets?   i'm bringin' the camera :-)

rach, you cut your hair????

5/28/98 no time, no time...

but here's a cute pic of d' from tampa (from jenn - thanks jenn :-)

5/27/98 a couple more pix from miami:  brent & erica and d'monroe & erica.

ii'm p00ped.

5/26/98 back to work today.  i am s0000 not ready after 2 weeks of playing :-)

i put up those really old (july 13, 1997) articles.

some more pics from miami:  cary, leigh, erica & d'monroe, jasmine & mikey, pierre, mikey, scott, andy & brent.

anyone going to RENT in pittsburgh, email me.

5/25/98 i swear i never heard this before i did that april fool's joke. this is from the ovation awards ceremony last november:

"Rent" cast members Julia Santana and Mark Leroy Jackson joked about cross-dressing, while presenter Fred Savage got laughs when he suggested launching his own version of the Bohemian musical. "If Doogie Howser can do it, why can't I?" quipped the former child actor.

tickets are on sale now for iowa city.  check the tourdates section.

from tampa: jasmine and more cary.

from miami: erica & andy (and a few friends), and more erica & andy :-)

hbo is showing ant's movie "when trumpets fade" in june.  they're also showing "the making of twister" starting may 31 (at 3:15am PST!)

i added some more old articles & reviews, over there, <- under articles & reviews, but you'll have to just dig thru them to see whatever you haven't seen.

carla, yes. she'll be maureen for the next few weeks on broadway :)

neil, no. jim poulos says his contract isn't up until the end of july and he has no plans to leave.

5/24/98 this is a really cute picture of erica & brent in miami. love the hat :-)

and here's chasta and julia & scott and erica & leigh in miami.

cable modem access has finally come to cypress.  i just may be moving this whole site yet again :-)

more miami:  erica, pierre, brent & mikey, owen, and d'monroe :-)

and yet another pittsburgh article.  can't wait till this town starts doing reviews, they're really pumping out the publicity.

5/23/98 here's an article from out magazine and another from the tribune-review in pittsburgh, and the first article out of providence.

and speaking of adrian (if you read the article above), here's a pic of him that jules took in london about a month ago.  and she left this morning to go back again!

and speaking of london, here's jesse and ant :-)

this article's from milwaukee from last month.  it's more about theatre in milwaukee, but i like what they say about touring companies.

and just-in-case you're planning to go to detroit (ahem, *tina*!), here's another.  i'm happy to see this article, there hasn't been much info out of detroit since laura got there.  this is good.

if you missed it on the board, sing your way to costa mesa tickets.

i don't care if you don't read any of those other articles, you *must* go check out the title of this one.  somebody's *really* confused.   LOLOLOL!

5/22/98 alrighty.  denver is out (at least for the benny tour).  but palm springs is in!  w00!  they'll be here thanksgiving week (my birthday :-)  i've updated the tour dates page again: palm springs, san antonio, memphis and orlando info has been confirmed and added.

finally, a review from hartford (funny comments).

from the l.a. times today:

"Aug.4 - The national touring company of Rent moves into the Orange County Performing Arts Centre for a longer-than-usual stay, through Aug. 16.  Most Broadway tours get evicted after a week there, so enjoy the loud music while you can."

continuing on with the pics from tampa and miami.

and denise sent me some pics of her & jessica & chris from l.a. :-)

and from my duck friend in miami - LOL!

5/21/98 ok, see here's why i'm confused about denver & san antonio.  denver used to be listed as a stop for the angel tour.  then it was listed as a stop for the benny tour.  now it's not listed anywhere, but the theatre lists RENT as being there 12/9/98 thru 1/3/99.

san antonio lists the benny tour as being there (at least i think it's the benny tour) 12/8 - 12/13/98.  altho this particular show has mimi in love with mark so maybe it's not RENT at all :-)  i keep thinking maybe they're starting *another* tour that we don't know about yet - they *have* been auditioning an awfully lot lately!

i've put up some of the tampa pics from maria (thanks maria :-)  there's some really good ones.

5/20/98 hi everybody!  got back early from our trip and i'm so glad to be home.  it was fun but an awful lot of driving.  my son's graduation was nice, spent a few days there, as well as some time in vegas and reno.  won a few bucks ($800) in vegas, but gave it all to the boy :-)

i got home late last nite and read the board, starting with the day i left. that was pretty amusing.  that last one was a nice post tina  :-)

came home to my lion king tickets (w00!) and a bunch of pictures from erica, mikey and maria.  starting with miami, these are from erica. thanks you three! :-)

etsu sent me the first RENT japan cast info, including pictures of the some of the actors who've been cast.  i only *think* i got this right etsu, correct me if i'm wrong!

i updated the bios and the tour dates section to include reno, tucson & iowa. that denver date is still really unclear but i left it anyway.  it's looking more like san antonio will be in december, not next year.

where the heck are all the hartford (newspaper) reviews?  here are a few audition articles from pittsburgh.

kelly, i can't get ahold of you, your email account is rejecting everything.

it's nice to be home :-)

5/11/98

= see you in two weeks =

(and somebody tape ally & buffy)

:-)

5/10/98 this is one of the publicity photos from costa mesa.

so is this, altho chris is in the picture so it's from around february or march.

i love the way caro is doing this - putting up a wav of each actor singing the same line.  it's very cool.

there's a laura review on the angel tour board.

paul & sandy, you guys ROCK.

5/9/98 i'm officially on vacation.  w00!  :-)

d's looking healthy & happy (from mikey in miami :-)

the mysterious adrian, now listed as roger in the benny tour on siteforrent (good sleuthing RentMomTM :-)

i've been off researching denver (note that this is not confirmed, or rather, it's confirmed, just not that it's the benny cast).

5/7/98 spent more time trying to call guam last nite. this is ridiculous.

90 days 90 days 90 days 90 days 90 days 90 days 90 days

5/5/98 happy cinco de mayo  :-)

new rent articles from atlanta - check adam out!  :-)

speaking of adam, here he is in miami with paul.

someone wrote wanting to see more cary - here ya go.

5/4/98 good luck today stephen, and if they cast you, you know we all expect house seats!  :-)

good laura review from the angel tour board   :-)

"LAURA: WOW!!! She is really amazing. I LOVED her! First of all, she is absolutely beautiful! She has a smile that lights up her face and she is wonderful to watch. Her voice is perfect and she really seems to have clicked with the cast (and Christian) already. Her OUT TONIGHT was like nothing I have ever seen before. She was all over the rails and the back wall. On the part right before she lets her hair down, she is standing up on the rails and literally does a back bend. She "rides" the rail like it's a horse and it's incredibly erotic (as my husband says with envy, "Lucky rail!") She is a phenomenal dancer and really flexible. She jumps down the last 5+ stairs when she sings "hit the street" and lands in a very feline like crouch. The only improvement she might want to make is during LA VIE BOHEME. Her "lawn chair handcuff dance to the sound of ice tea being stirred" could really be a showcase for her amazing abilities. I really enjoyed her as Mimi and I think anyone who sees her will agree!"

the first article out of hartford.

leigh, hallie & kye in miami - MWAH!  :-)

5/3/98 kay, sabs' show is really funny and she does a great job!  it's at cypress college, go if you get a chance!  great to see you amber, laura, rachel, katie, lindsey & tina!   :-)

5/1/98 wow it's may.  exactly 3 months today since i've seen the show.  and now i can say we go to new york next month.  w00!
