and some more (in reference to "the vagina monologues" in case you aren't familiar with it):
(now that one i *would* like to see :-) and one more - an article from a toronto cattle call - i've never heard of this happening - kinda bizarre. |

| 5/9/00 | hey,
i'm finally back in el lay :-). man, it feels like i've been gone for *so* long. the DC leg of the trip was alot of fun, running around DC, hanging out in our not-sleazy-enough hotel :-) craig & sherri & ben & staci and all the other RENT'ers and TLS'ers - we had a blast. steve's session at the pflag convention was good, he sang some songs from the new cd and it was cool cuz the people he wrote the new songs about were in the audience, and of course because it's dedicated to dickie. one of dickie's co-facilitators was at the convention (which i didn't know), and she came up and started talking to me - that threw me again and i started crying. it's ok, pat... that's just the way it is... one step forward, two steps back. the "equality rocks" concert was fucking awesome ('cept for the bathroom - sherri and i chose to use the men's instead cuz the women's was 3 inches deep in water - gah!) melissa ethridge was incredible, loved it. i can't even describe what *getting to* the concert was like on the metro - it seemed like everyone in the city was on that one train - we got to know each other very well, very quickly, lol - packed in like sardines doesn't even come close :) and yeah, phelps and his whole 10 or so followers were outside picketing and were pretty much ignored except for some jokes being made about them. the march itself we didn't do, we just went and were present - listened to the speakers, waited for steve's turn to speak, gave up when they kept pushing it back another hour and went and watched it on TV back at the hotel. he finally came on stage for about a whole 5 seconds :-) and reen was there sunday at mmow- hi reen! :-) on the way, we passed the national theatre, which just happened to be right 'below 14th street', lol. NY - ah.... went to NY on monday morning. we saw RENT that nite and what a fun cast that was to see! we saw peter before the show and he told us he was going on as mark. and chad was on as roger, and it was so interesting to see all these cast members from all over, together: owen, danielle, cristina, andy, stu, kamilah, it was just a way cool show, lotsa fun :-) i only took a few pictures, more later. and alan wasn't there - agh! tuesday we saw AIDA with jimbo - loved it, becky :-) we went and said hi to adam before the show & said we'd be back after the show but um, we were hungry, so we left :-) wednesday jess came in and hung out with us in the city for the day, and then we went to JCS. d' and laura! :-) god, laura's wonderful in this. d' needs a bigger role (and i told him so :-) thursday we went to 'dirty blonde' - BOB! :-) what a great show - if you haven't seen this yet, go see it! it opened on broadway monday and ben brantley *raved* about it on tuesday - yesterday bob was nomiated for a tony - i'm glad we already had tickets, i don't think we'd have been able to get them after that. it's one of those shows that makes me want to go see more small, unique shows - it's just way good - go see it :-) friday we went with jimbo and fredi to "naked boys singing". stephen alexander's in it and afterwards he kept looking at fredi and finally said "fredi? FREDI? OMG, what are you doing here?" it was very cute (so's the show - another one to go see :-). i love this picture of shannon & fredi :-) marc came in on saturday and we went to "the laramie project" before we came home but we had to leave before it ended so we could catch the shuttle to the airport. good thing we left when we did, we could *not* get a taxi to stop for anything. marc had come into the city to spend the day with us and he *finally* got one - after we'd already walked 20 blocks or so - good job marc :-) mandy, i have stuff for you and a special something from fredi :-) anyway, more pictures from all this are coming, but here's one from the back of the stage during contact - cool shot :-) i'm officially back to work. aaaaaagggggggghhhhhhh! |
