6/29/99 well hey, GO canada :-)

"Fred Phelps kicked out of his hotel"

"The Rev. Fred Phelps and his clan of antigay crusaders are looking for a new place to stay after an Ottawa hotel canceled their reservation, The Ottawa Sun reports. Phelps was planning to stage a protest at the supreme court building in Ottawa Monday morning. The hotel cancellation upset Phelps's daughter, Shirley Phelps-Roper, who said, "Canadians are hypocrites--saying that you won't discriminate against gays and then discriminating against us because of our religion."

6/20/99 a little blurb from boston:

"This Week's Recommended Events: "Rent" is more than just a hit Broadway musical: it is a bonafide pop culture phenomenon, which has inspired Deadhead-like devotion in its tens of thousands of seen-it-35-times fanatics. The "La Boheme" inspired musical has been extended through July 25 at the Wang Center. Catch it without catching the train down to New York."

more randomness (gimme a break, i've been in the house two weeks!).  these cracked me up :-)

ahhhhhhhhh, the first TLS reviews are in from denver (click on 'denver' when you get there).  i can't wait :-)

and nick's pictures are up from des moines and iowa city - thanks nick!

6/19/99 here's the first review from boston - sorta nice for this cast in general, not so nice for RENT in general.

i got about 20 "HELL NO THAT'S NOT DAPHNE" messages and one quiet "Yes it is!".  anybody else want to chime in?  one person thought maybe tia carrere... possible... i haven't seen her in awhile but i think her boobs are bigger than that too :-)

i'm slightly amused by the marcy vs. krysten posts... thinking back to the daphne vs. marcy days...

not much else RENT related going on so since dan quayle is running for president, can i just start repeating DQ jokes now, the man is SUCH an idiot but SO amusing :-)

'It isn't pollution that's harming the environment. It's the impurities in our air and water that are doing it." -Dan Quayle

buffy:  "graduation day 2" WILL air on july 13th so set your vcr's!

6/18/99 okay so i want a show of hands (or, um, email me) - how many of you don't think that's daphne? it looks NOTHING like her to me (and as mandy pointed out: look at the boobs, that's not her!" heh :-)  anyway... we think blockbuster screwed up the pictures.  and any guesses as to who that actually *is*?

june 27th is national HIV testing day so from 7 pm to 7:45 pm eastern time that evening, the CDC will present its first national HIV testing day webcast.  go to  http://www.hivtest.org for information about HIV testing and HIV/AIDS prevention. transcripts of the webcast will be available online through the end of july.

Boston: Wednesday, June 23rd, 11:30am, come to the Border's Books at Downtown Crossing and meet the members of the cast of RENT. (note the time change - thanks clover).

6/17/99 here's another article from boston that mike found - another one about the fans :-)  thanks, mike :-)

yes, marcus chaney is replacing kye this week as mr. jefferson.

daph won the blockbuster entertainment award for favorite supporting actress in a suspense film (Wild Things).   which i liked btw, karen c. and i went and saw it and it was one of those just weird enough movies that i liked it alot :-)

6/16/99 chrissie rocks :-)  she found two articles from boston and typed them up for me cuz they weren't online. so they're here (click on june '99), dated 6/4 and the most recent 6/13. thanks chrissie :-)

6/15/99 just some stuff you already know, don't want it to get lost:

i've had this tacked up on my wall at work for years now.  you've probably seen it around here and there, but i can read this (or a part of it) every day and get something i need from it at any given moment.

6/13/99 here's the first article out of boston - thanks karen c :-)

also, boston dates & times are changing a little because of the holiday:
curtain is at 8 p.m. tuesday through friday
(except june 17, at 7 p.m.), at 2 and 8 p.m. on saturday, and at 1 and 7 p.m. on sunday (no shows on july 4); there's an additional 8 p.m. show on june 28 and an additional 2 p.m. matinee on june 30th.

and karen posted this on the board, but in case you missed it:

Boston: Wednesday, June 23rd, 12:00 noon, come to the Border's Books at Downtown Crossing and meet the members of the cast of RENT.

i'm still home from work, still recuperating and carrying on random, long-ass threads with mandy, amber & stacey.   they work for me now you know ;-) and if you have any CLUE what this is, you win a prize from amber:

steve will be on ken mcpherson's radio show today in san francisco. it's hibernia beach. call in and give him a shout. also,he'll be performing at josies juice bar june 20th at 6pm and 8pm.   if you're up in san francisco, go see him and give him a hug from all of us :-)

6/10/99 well this is kind of a cool thing to hear, amongst all the bickering over movie rights and whatnot. i like this - thanks karen :-)

this is pretty much the only article i've found from schenectady, but reen found tihis review - thanks reen:-)

owen leaves the bennytour july 2nd, arrives in new york july 18th, and starts on the 27th as steve/others.

do you know what "dissolv-it" is?  it's this marvelous stuff used for getting peanut butter out of hair, things like that.  i discovered it a couple of years ago after one of these operations - it's the only thing i know of that gets that sticky bandage residue off your skin when you change bandages - and it gets it off really easily.   so i'm clean, and my bandages are clean, but i stink :-)

this is a picture karen and i ran across a little while ago - we had no idea daphne was in 'faust' at the la jolla playhouse pre-rent.  so, did she know michael pre-rent also?

hmm. i'm noticing all these typos i've been making all week here.. fixing as i find them :-)

6/7/99 here's the 2nd postcard in jimbo's summer '99 series. heh :-)

to all: i feel like crap, thanks :-)

dixon posted this this morning, it cracked me up:

"Life in Lubbock, Texas taught me two things:
One is that God loves you and you're going to
burn in Hell. The other is that sex is the most
awful, dirty thing on the face of the earth and
you should save it for someone you love".

-- Butch Hancock

6/6/99

for whatever reason (and i'm sure it's me) i couldn't post on the board yesterday so i just wanted to say thanks to everyone for all the cards & flowers & messages & stuff - they're beautiful!

i'm fine, just stoned and should be back up and around in time for "pigs" sometime this month :-)

and TLS denver is signed, sealed & deivered, and now ben & staci & sherri & craig & shannon and probli adam are coming too. and i can't type so im gonna stop now and go back to my couch, but thanks everyone:-)

6/3/99 ok, i wasn't going to do this but karen c. thinks i should tell the whole freakin' world what's going on with me so here ya go:

i'm having surgery tomorrow and prolly won't be updating here for the next couple of weeks.  dude, i'm gonna be stoned.  hell, i'm already stoned, what am i saying.  anyh00, i'll be online sporadically but prolly not updating and if you email me and i don't answer - it's cuz i'm knocked out on the couch :-)

ok, as freud would say: carry on :-)

6/1/99
for real
umm, yeah.  so i was ahead of myself yesterday and jumped right into june even tho may wasn't over. so here ya go, instant replay (yes, i'm a dork :-)

it's a wrap.  the TLS party was fun, sentimental, and a good goodbye. i really love michael alden's sincerity.  and ronda cracked me up accepting her maisey award.  i'm not gonna repeat it here but if you were there, you know what i'm talking about, it was hilarious.  i love you all, see you at "pigs" :-)

here's an article from grand rapids about rentheads - are YOU in this? :-)

yeow, it's freakin' JUNE.   halfway to christmas. oy.

gone, but it's still a cute picture :-)

back on my soapbox:

"Federal guidelines recommend early treatment for HIV for many patients. But Medicaid, which is the largest provider of HIV care today, will not provide treatment no matter how low one's income unless one is also disabled. Therefore many people have to wait until they become ill before they can obtain treatment -- resulting in very poor medical care."

"Recently a bill was introduced in the House by Rep. Richard Gephardt and Rep. Nancy Pelosi, and in the Senate by Senator Robert Torricelli, to change the law so that low-income persons do not need to wait for advanced illness before receiving treatment."

"You can help by calling your Senators and your Representative, and asking them to support the bill (in the Senate it is S.902; in the House it is H.R.1591)."

if you don't know your senator or representative, you can find the information at wiredstrategies.com or find them by state:
