"Idina Menzel to Be War Bride in Goodspeed Summer of '42

Idina Menzel was spiky in Rent and unleashed in Off-Broadway's The Wild Party, and Aug. 10-Sept. 3 she will pay her dues as a broken war bride in the musical, Summer of '42, at Goodspeed-at Chester.

Manhattan and regional readings of the new musical by librettist Hunter Foster and composer-lyricist David Kirshenbaum paid off earlier this year when Goodspeed Opera House announced the show for its developmental arm in Chester, CT. The tuner was announced for November, but was later pulled back
for summer dates.

Gabriel Barre, who helmed The Wild Party with Menzel at Manhattan Theatre Club, directed the musical based on the motion picture about a boy's coming of age in a homefront seaside town during World War II.

Menzel was a Tony Award nominee for Rent. She will excite young Ryan Driscoll as Hermie and Tony nominee Brett Tabisel (Big) as his pal, Oscie."

oh, and becky said adam will be on vacation from Aida july 16th - july 23, so if you are planning on trying to see him, keep that in mind.  who's his understudy anyway?

these are old now, but i wanted to put them up so they don't get lost - the 4th anniversary of RENT - a bunch of mimi's and neil, idina, daphne & fredi (and we wondered at the time why fredi was late meeting us that nite in NY - found out later :-)

is anybody watching "survivor"?  what a bizarre show, reminds me of 'lord of the flies'.   when do they get around to killing each other?

6/19/00 god, long time no - anything.  i've been really busy and working on trying to survive this grieving "process."  i asked gabi once how she survived her son's death and she said "i didn't".  i think she's right, you don't survive as the same person you were before.

i've updated the tourdates section, a few new ones have cropped up - boston, seattle, etc.

congratulations jenny & kevin who got married here yesterday :-)   both my son & daughter have been home too, things have been nutz :-)

i need to see a movie, what's good out there right now?

and thanks for the copy of the tony's, lisa - i finally got to see my heather :-)  (that's for you dahna - bwahahahaha! :-)

back to the salt mines.   tracey i'm trying to get a couple days off when you're here - no word yet tho.   nice to see you this weekend shannon & steve :-)

6/7/00 i missed the freakin' tonys and i'm pissed, i really wanted to see heather win, i love her :-)  and then of course there's jesse ;-)

TWP broadway version is closing june 11th - and i have to agree with mandy - BWAHAHAHAHAHA!  so bring in the *real* TWP now!

and finally - as the show moves on - new articles and reviews (altho honolulu seems more focused on kevin than rent. whatever.  toronto, honolulu1 and honolulu2 (thanks mike and karen :)

6/2/00 just dropping in to say happy june. 

i hate when the tour is in one city for a long time - there's no articles, no reviews, no new pictures, no nothing.  oh well.  i've been updating the tourdates page tho (with some help from karen c :-). i don't think i've uploaded the new guestbook entries since december.  i will... one of these days.
