for matthew

1/31/99 i'm so running today, suzanne & serena are here from seattle and rushing and i'm going to the show and i went to both TLS shows yesterday and i have stacks of unopened mail and pictures and tapes and email i haven't read or answered and bills to pay and taxes to do and.. you get the picture.  i'll get to it all, i swear :-)

if you haven't reserved a ticket for TLS wednesday nite to see steve as gideon, better call (323.653.4481), they're almost full.

1/30/99 happy birthday roberta!

here's another review from nashville.

and check it out, laura & andy are in intheater magazine.  cool :-)

1/29/99 AT: a great review from usc, and even a current cast picture - thanks ryan :-)

BT: i got about 16 gazillion pictures from adam yesterday from ft. lauderdale & greensboro - by far my favorite is the line picture - LOLOL! - you guys ROCK!  :-)

call now for tickets to see steve as gideon next week, they're going fast! the number is (323) 653-4481.   tickets are $25 with proceeds benefiting Being Alive.

speaking of Being Alive and The THEORY, thank you carrie!   i got the articles, thank you s000 much, you're great!

i love the way daphne says "and she looked good".  she's s000 cute! :-)

check out rent in finland!

1/28/99 next wednesday, february 3rd:  steve is performing as gideon in a special TLS show. call the TLS office at (323) 653-4481 to reserve tickets.

BT: good review outta nashville - we have a convert :-)  but why is norbert shown as one of the village people?   LOLOL!

check out a clip of ant's new movie (man of the century) - currently at slamdance.

vcr alert: ant will appear with the cast of charlie brown on rosie on february 5th.

dean's "mimiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii".  i like :-)

AT: i put josh's pictures up, they're cute :-)

jesse supposedly made *five* new episodes of ally - w00!  or yeowwwwwwwwww, lol :-)

1/27/99 great show last nite, tired. late. argh.  i love daphne telling b. love "Fuck You".  hahahahaha!

here's another daph eulogy, love the giggle.

and nice save dean!  trey completely forgot "angel's death won't be in vain" here :-)

1/26/99 didya see my jesse?  w00!  LOL!  and he's in another new episode in 2 weeks!   :-)

omg, i have to put this up - this is a wav becky sent me of daph's eulogy this past weekend - she's too funny!  there's tons more but i hate putting wavs up.  hmmm, should i?

i put up a link over there <- on the menu (down at the bottom) to the angel tour section.   there's articles and stuff there now too.

i'm being told boston is still not officially confirmed, no matter what the newspaper says.  we'll see boys :-)

what's the deal with the new rent promotion stuff?  first the australian poster, then the london poster, now this new york commerical they're showing with all these happy, shiny people running down the street singing.  they all look like gap commercials to me, not RENT.

chris talked to wilson in new york yesterday :-)

milwaukee's doing rush, but only one ticket per person.  bizarre.

1/25/99

thank you jonathan

1/24/99 AT:   here's some more pictures, mostly from opening nite.

congratulations staci & ben, have a great honeymoon in new york :-)

1/23/99 AT:   opening night was *great*, there were so many people there and press and all, it was a big party :-)  we were being obnoxious running around looking for celebs, lol, and found taye right behind us so we stalked him at intermission.  c'mon, admit it, we did :-)  poor guy, we surrounded him, he couldn't get away if he tried - hahahahaha!  we're so lame :-)  i gave him a TLS flyer and told him to come to the show but he was leaving for ny this morning so he gave it to his friend. and rodney hicks, sean keller, carrie hamilton, sarah gellar, brian austin green, vanessa marcil and that girl who used to be on california dreams (we couldn't remember her name) were there and some other guy i think i should know but don't, lol :-)

the show was great, i really like trey's mark.  he reminds me of how some people used to complain about anthony sounding whiny sometimes - i like it.  i love kamilah and erin is so funny.  their tmolm last night kicked ass, i agree with blue, i haven't seen that since kenna/carla. and um, christian & danielle during contact, ummmmm.... you'll have to see it to know what i'm talking about, LOL!   and i loved dean's glory last nite, he talked, choked thru part of it, i loved it.

what more can i say about daphne but Oh My God.  this is the real thing.  she's absolutely electrifying.

and my camera batteries died before half the cast came out.  sigh.

so, um, what's the benny cast doin', orlando?  :-)  danielle greaves is taking over for moe, did we know that?   she said she'll be here until the 31st.

i'm off to a wedding...

1/22/99 i guess i'm going to have to start differentiating which cast i'm talking about, it's weird having a different cast in town.  great, but weird :-)

here's the first BT (bennytour) review from orlando.  and the second :-)

AT (angeltour):  here's some more pictures from preview nite. i know i said i'd write more but i'm p00ped and trying to get to the show tonite (and work today).  it's rockin' out here - you guys that arent here, get out here!   tania, frank, craig, sherri - you listening?  :-)

1/21/99 omg, the show last nite was s00000 g00d. after all this time we finally got to see daphne and now i know what all the h00pla was about.  it is s000 all about daphne.  she is mimi.  i've never seen anyone even remotely close to this (don't take that wrong, i like other mimi's too) but daphne is mimi, she just is. absolutely fantastic.

there were some technical problems in the beginning, trey's mic wasn't working (at all) but he went ahead singing and at dean's "are you talking to me?" trey responded with his "not at all" and it was hilarious (cuz no, he wasn't talking to anyone, nobody could hear him!).  at dean's "this won't tune" and trey's "so we hear" the audience burst out laughing and clapping and cheering because, NO - we still couldn't hear much of trey at all (terrific audience btw) (they appreciated that too, i talked to christian after the show and he said it was great to have the audience so behind them).

i have so much to say, i just loved this whole show.  it was so g00d to see mark j. again, happy and relaxed, and alan and alan.  and we kept introducing steve to everyone and saying "this is steve schlachlin, the author of "the last session" and then they'd start talkin' shop :-)  and deme, i think i'm gonna hire you, you can be my publicist or something, lol :-)

the cast was great, all of 'em.   and everyone was there last nite, wow, i don't think we've all been together like that since l.a. closing, it was really fun to have everyone at "church" again :-)

more tomorrow.... it's late... but this cast and this show rock.

1/20/99 here's some of margaret's pictures from greensboro.  cute :-)

mandy loves me. heh heh :-)

tonite = rent l.a. = angel cast = daphne.  is anyone not going tonite, lol?

the cast is singing this morning on KTLA (channel 5 in l.a.) morning news (the news is from 6am - 9am, so probli 8:45 :-)

i stole amber's whole photo album this weekend, lol :-)  but i'm starting with the most recent TLS pics (click on l.a.)

1/18/99 everytime i see TLS lately it's different, it's really cool.  just different stuff, different delivery.  sound familiar?  :-)

here's an article from orlando.

1/17/99 damn, everybody was at TLS yesterday. craig brought us our bonusround t-shirts, they're very cool :-)

1/16/99 i'm going to TLS today, and runnin' around.

i updated the bios, i think it's right (sheesh! :-)

1/15/99 i posted this on the board, but somebody needs to find out ordering info and let us know:

"Only 300 tickets will be sold to "The Rent Event," a benefit for Humanities Outreach in Tennessee. The event includes a pre-performance dinner at 12th & Porter, premier tickets to Rent, and a post-performance dessert with the cast of Rent at Cafe 123".

and both lori and karen c. won the l.a. times contest for RENT tickets - HAHAHAHAHAHA!  cool!  and karen's takin' me :-)

1/12/99 YEOWWWWWWWWWW!  jesse!  ok, i just want him.  LOL!  :-)

1/11/99 aaaaahhhhhhhh, jesse's on ally tonite, i'm so excited.  how lame. LOL! :-)

and our very own chris (ThatActor) is on tonite on lifetime's "hit & run".

and there's a 30 min. special on Rent in florida tonite on fox 35 at 10:30.  somebody tape!

here's some of janelle's pictures from san antonio - thanks janelle :-)

from nashville:

Ironically, Rent's creator, Jonathan Larson, died of an aortic aneurysm just hours before his musical's final dress rehearsal off-Broadway and wasn't able to see his work capture the 1996 Tony for Best Musical or the Pulitzer Prize for Drama. His musical, which explores the lives and struggles of a group of Bohemian artists, is considered one of the most original American works in years and consistently sells out in Chicago and New York. It is also considered one of the most daring productions to visit Nashville's stages due to its language and subject matter.  Next to "Footloose," of course.

i do hope they're kidding!   HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

and again, you guys are amazing - the responses i'm getting about The THEORY are fantastic.   calling all med students or friends of med students or researchers or anyone you can think of to look into this - pass it on!

1/10/99 thank you those of you who are reading and writing to me about The THEORY.  *you're* the ones making a difference, i'm really proud of you.

here's a couple of reviews from ft. lauderdale (check the january '99 link). this one description of "out tonight" cracked me up - "a stalkers theme song"?   LOL!

1/9/99 okay, so how many of you did *something* with The THEORY yesterday?  c'mon, i want to hear from you.  "you can only make a difference when you care".

i put up some cute pictures from leigh's last in san antonio.

and all of marie-reine's from TLS new years weekend.

1/8/99 listen up, this is really important.  some of you know i've been helping dickie (dick remley) publish his HIV THEORY over on steve's site (bonusround.com).  well, tuesday a couple of new research articles were released that correspond with The THEORY, except they don't have all the puzzle pieces yet.  The THEORY does.  we're trying to get this info out to as many researchers, doctors, AIDS facilities, etc. as we can so go there, print it out, pass it out, or at least point people to the site so they can print it themselves.   this is important.

i LOVE that discussion that's been raging on the lifecafe board.  go steve and karen c. (and all the rest of y'all over there rippin' it up :-)

1/7/99 sherri thinks the sf thing is a marketing ploy.  i think i agree.

i got home really late last nite, no time, no time.

1/6/99 what the hell is this?  the sf run is 10 weeks only???

here's some more more selina's pictures from san antonio, thanks selina :-)

congress reconvenes today.   geez like they're going to accomplish anything.

more contests:

KTLA morning news, channel 5 is also having a RENT ticket giveaway... go to KTLA, and check under the morning news section - contests (thanks richard)

oh and i forgot to say:   "deme's brilliant". lol :-)

1/5/99 so deme had this *bright* idea, LOLOL!  "why not put links to all of the major airlines and cheap ticket places on your site?  you could even attach it to the tour dates page.  you have time to do that right?"  (yes, she's kidding - cracked me UP!  :-)

here's a buncha staci's pictures from greensboro - thanks staci!  :-)

and in case you missed it on the board:

WIN FREE RENT -- The Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize-winning smash hit Broadway musical, "Rent" is returning to Los Angeles! And you can win free tickets, along with $1,000 cash towards your rent. 1/3/99 selina, see, ya gotta tell whoever's taking pictures of you to try to get the actual people fully in the picture ;-)  *i* never chop people's heads off.  nope, never. heh heh. here's some of selina's pictures from san antonio :-)

went to TLS again last nite, bry was in town and max and karina came too - yay!  :-)  i love you blue, you crack me up :-)

1/2/99 saw a couple of "best of theater" articles from florida yesterday - here's #1 and #2.  if y'all find any more in your papers that are talking about the benny cast, send me the link.

and i like the way this guy worded this about RENT   :-)

TLS was also named one of the year's best by the la times :-)

from youthresource.com:

Although Wilson may be best known for his work on My So Called Life, he shined in 1998. Among his roles, Wilson played Angel in the LA Cast of Rent. Taking on challenging roles, and taking seriously his role in our community, Wilson is one star to look out for.

you all know this:  adrian's gone from RENT, and it sucks.

do NOT let me forget this!  "The Ally Mcbeal episode "In DREAMS" which will mark the return of JESSE L. MARTIN as Dr. Greg Butters will be shown on January 11, 1999."

1/1/99

happy new year everyone!

"i can't believe a year went by so fast."  i can't believe it's 1999 (yay prince).   it's been a great year everyone, thanks :-)

spent the evening at TLS with a buncha rentheads and a buncha sessionauts, 'twas very cool.  and thanks karen c. for paging me right as the lights went down and the show started, lol.  no harm, no foul :-)
