A New York Story

January 25, 1998

Me, Dina, Gus, Whitney, Yasmina, Jaye, Sarah, Joanna, and Cas all had candles to light for Jonathan.  It was really windy, so we got in a circle so we could keep our candles lit.  It didn't work, so we decided to put the candles together.  We all went around and said something about Jonathan.  The first thing Cas said was that our candles wouldn't stay lit until we put them together, which was true.  We all said something about how much we love Jonathan, even though we didn't know him, and how much he affected our lives.  We all starting crying as we stood outside the Neder thanking our beloved Jonathan Larson.   It was the saddest, yet greatest moment ever.

When we finished what we had to say we blew out the candles.  There was a pool of wax beneath us when we looked down.  We had left our mark.

We saw Al Larson, and we told him why we were wearing the ribbons, and what they are for, and how much his son has made a difference in our lives, he started crying, he hugged every single one of us.
