And afterwards when we were standing across the street from the theatre taking pictures we saw the cast come out, we wanted to get their autographs but our evil sponsors (Hitler and Stalin) wouldn't let us. It is so awful to know that I could have the casts autographs but don't. It's so wrenching! But the show was great and I love Rent. I got here because I 'm looking to see where I can find sing-along tapes because Gilbert and I are going to do a Duet Musical Theater number, we aren't sure which son yet but are looking at "Light My Candle" "Tango: Maureen" "Another Day" and "Without You". Probably no one, but what the hell. Anyways, my name's Katie. I saw a production of "Rent" yesterday at the Shubert Theatre in Chicago. I was so incredibly touched. I thought it was the most amazing thing I had ever seen. For awhile, I've wanted to become an actress and go to Hollywood. But the show inspired me in a way that nothing else ever has and I have decided to pursue a career in musical theatre instead. I'm going to be on Broadway someday. I think if I could play any role in the musical, I'd play Mimi because it would stretch me in more ways than one. It would be a challenging role for me to play. My favorite character is Mark because I can relate somewhat to what he's going through. I like to hide behind things like work instead of actually going out and getting something done. I will listen to my friends' problems for hours without ever going out and causing my own. After I saw the show, I felt like a different person. |

I was already a fan having owned the soundtrack for a while but the being there live was unlike any experience i've ever had being an audience member. I was so taken that i rushed for tickets the following saturday and got front row seats for teh show. It was even more amazing. This is finally a show taht deals with life in souch a touching way but keeps it realistic at the same time, a modern day musical finally. A rock opera. It blows me away everytime i hear or see it |
