palm desert opening nite
ok well it's 2:15am - the freakin drive to palm desert took us 3 hours to get there, there
was s000 much traffic (i'm assuming everyone was leaving early for thanksgiving, but it
was bumper to bumper for ages).
i said this about seattle but i have to say it about this show too, it was just *fun*. it was so nice to see christian again, he looks and sounds great (but crap, this makes me want to go to albuquerque now!) his diction and his acting are totally different than before (there's much more of both). his "glory" was terrific and it was so good to see him & julia together again, they know each other so well and play off each other so well. i was a little concerned about how chris & scott would work together but it was all good. and i still love the way scott does that "la viiieeeeeee boheme" operatic style, it rocks :-) (his hair is all brown now, i told him to tell roger to get off his butt and take care of it - d0h! :-)
there were *lots* of walkouts, at least 1/5 of the audience. eh {shrug}. stacy got me a rush ticket (thanks stace!) but i gave it to tina so when people started bailin' we just moved up to the 3rd row.
this was the first time i'd seen horace - *loved* his solo, he was really good. i even got over d' and liked brian this time around. wichasta brought down the house as usual and i adore her bag lady when she's over there on the side gettin' into the dance, she cracks me up. and i liked michael (squeegieman) too and his "will i" solo was good.
curt totally blew his "look i find some of what you teach suspect, cuz i'm used to relying on intellect :::mumble mumble mumble::: :::mumble mumble::: "because reason says....!" it was hilarious, i've never ever heard curt flub a line before. i'm going to miss him (again!)
i like kristin alot, she's a little ball of energy and leigh was on tonite, feeling better and looking g00d (she's going to come to tls in january cuz she'll be back here by then - yay!). moe was *all* into it tonite, you g0 girl! i really love her joanne.
alan kicks ass, the man in front of me just *lost* it during contact and the funeral. and alan does this howl thing in "prarie daaawwwgs" that rocks. he just kicks, that's all there is to it.
pierre's angel is way different from costa mesa, he's taking the role and making it his own. it's interesting to watch the transition - we watched andy make it his role after wilson left, and now pierre is doing the same thing. he has a new wig that's longer, and pulled up on top with the flower in the back, it's perfect for him. when he smiles he lights up the room. he and alan are great together.
julia was my julia, squeaks alive :-) after the show she had on this long red straight wig, she came up and hugged me and i didn't even know it was her until she stepped back and laughed (yeah, so, random strangers hug me alot :-) it looked fantastic on her - love her!
robert glean was sitting with richard & anika up in the sound booth/box/whatever you call it before the show so i said "hi" when i was up there talking to richard (like robert knows me from a hole in the wall - haha).
and brent! brent baby you just rock and you're lookin' s0000 good :-)
and the band, as usual, just totally kicked butt. they're so very *together*, i can't say enough good things about them, they just rock my world :-)
'kay, now it's 3, i'm thinkin' i should get *some* sleep tonite (ya think?)
